Good Morning America Lights Up San Antonio This Wednesday!

Business Wire, Dec 01, 2009

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio will be front-and-center in Times Square this Wednesday,
December 2, as Good Morning America (GMA) reveals the first of their
Holiday Windows for 2009.

A 19 by 13 foot studio window will reflect the magic of San Antonio
during the holidays. Called Pride, Passion, and Piatas, San Antonio’s
window will embody the citys authentic culture, historic icons, holiday
spirit and pride! The window – which incorporates the River Walks
holiday lights, flickering luminarias, Mission Trail and more was
created by local designer Jill Giles.

To kick off this much-anticipated unveiling, San Antonios all-female
Mariachi Las Alteas will enliven the studio with San Antonio-style
holiday entertainment. Plus, San Antonio Mayor Julin Castro will join
GMA anchors for the reveal.

Throughout the show, GMA Weather Anchor Sam Champion will broadcast
live from San Antonio flipping the switch on 122,000 lights on the
River Walk and highlighting San Antonios holiday traditions and
festivities.

After GMA on December 2, San Antonio will share its festive heart with
the East Harlem Boys & Girls Club, where elementary-age children who are
primarily Hispanic will be treated to a mariachi clinic, piata bash and
holiday fiesta.

In New York, San Antonio ambassadors will distribute 15,000 pieces of
collateral throughout Times Square, promoting the destination and
driving people to an online sweepstakes – 15 Days of Holiday Gifting.
Beginning on December 1, consumers can text and go online to
holiday.visitsanantonio.com to win San Antonio trips and locally
inspired gifts. Every participant in the online sweepstakes will garner
a $1 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, up to $10,000.

ABC News Good Morning America airs from 7 a.m. 9 a.m. EST. Other
cities in the 2009 GMA Lights Up America are San Francisco and Las
Vegas.
